about
Dr. Tyra
As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), I work with individuals, couples, and families struggling with personal and relationship issues. I am supportive, encouraging and compassionate and I try to create a safe and comfortable environment where we can work together to identify the issues and reasonable solutions.

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from University of Maryland University College, a Master of Science Degree in Marriage & Family Counseling Therapy, and PhD in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior from Capella University.

I am certified in the Prepare-Enrich Pre-Marital Assessment, the leading relationship inventory used nationally and internationally. I also have specialized training in treating trauma and affairs using the Gottman Method, equipping me to guide couples through infidelity repair with structure, emotional safety, and evidence-based strategies.
Some of my areas of special interest is helping couples in premarital counseling, couple and marriage related issues, infidelity, and gay and lesbian relationships. I also help those and have experience with those struggling with depression or anxiety, families coping with divorce, and individuals with self-esteem issues. To address many of these issues I utilize the Solution-Focused Therapy Model, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Therapy Method, Prepare-Enrich, and Trauma Focused Therapy.

Some of my personal interest are painting, spending time with friends and family and eating! I love blue crabs and food in general! I love eating out and trying new restaurants. Yum!
